Deryn

Deryn is less happy than Jay about being in the team. While Jay had been asking to be allowed to join, Deryn had only signed up as part of a dare, and if she thought she could survive it she would gladly welsh on the whole idea.

But assassination is ripe in the elven world, and at the moment Deryn's life expectancy would be shorter off the pitch than on it. So she'll play and she'll do her best to survive. And win, because that is part of surviving.

The severe head trauma she suffered in Angry Birds - Old Toastwood Facehuggers (Reserves Rumble, Reserves Rumble), her very first game, did little to add to her enthusiasm about the game, but when her teammates voted her MVP as a consolation she was encouraged to stay on the team a while longer.

Deryn quickly realized that the key to survival on the pitch was to get off it as soon as possible, and took it upon herself to be the teams official kicker of heads. Her only problem now is that she is so timid that the referee will usually overlook her antics.
